Why track your website on Reddit?

Reddit threads outrank a lot of your own marketing pages on Google. When someone searches for your product category, the first answer they see is often a Reddit thread, not your homepage — which means the comments inside that thread quietly decide whether they ever click through to your site at all. Tracking your website on Reddit is how you find those threads while they are still active and reply before the consensus calcifies.

There are five distinct types of Reddit conversation worth catching for any website:

  • Direct URL mentions — someone pasted your domain into a Reddit comment.
  • Brand mentions — someone named your product without linking it.
  • Recommendation requests — someone asking for what you sell, by category, without knowing your name.
  • Competitor mentions — someone discussing alternatives to a competitor where you should be in the conversation.
  • Pain-point posts — someone describing the exact problem your product solves, without yet shopping for a tool.

A keyword-alert tool catches the first two. Reddscan catches all five because it reads your website to understand what you actually do, then watches the topic, not just the brand string.

How Reddscan reads a URL

The analyze step runs the moment you paste a URL into the dashboard. Behind the scenes, Reddscan fetches the page, reads the meta tags, the headings, and the body copy, then runs an AI pass to extract structured data: product name, category, target audience, keywords, and the subreddits where your customers actually spend time. The whole thing finishes in about ten seconds.

The AI's output is editable. If it picks up a keyword you do not actually care about (or misses an obvious one), open the monitor and tweak before any matches start firing — Reddscan does not lock the inferred config in.

60-second setup

  1. Step 1

    Paste your website URL

Inside the Reddscan dashboard, open Add product and paste your URL. Anything with a real page behind it works — SaaS landing page, agency portfolio, open-source project homepage, e-commerce product page, docs site.

  2. Step 2

    Review the AI-proposed monitor

In about ten seconds the analyze step finishes and Reddscan shows you the proposed monitor: the keywords it extracted, the subreddits it picked, and the competitors it found. Edit any of them before they go live.

  3. Step 3

    Pick a notification channel

Email is on by default. If you want matches in Slack, Discord, Telegram, or a custom webhook, toggle the channel on and paste the destination URL or pair the bot. All five channels are included on every paid plan.

  4. Step 4

    Wait for the first match

Reddscan runs an immediate backfill pass against historical Reddit posts so you see the existing conversation context right away, then keeps scanning continuously. The first net-new match typically lands in your channel within minutes.

What you actually catch

Inside the Reddscan dashboard, a typical website-tracking monitor looks like this — every match is scored by AI for intent, with the matched keywords visible and a one-click jump out to the Reddit thread.

The AI tags every match with one of five intent classes — buying intent, pain point, research, support question, or noise. Sort by intent in your dashboard and the buying-intent and pain-point matches rise to the top of your feed; the noise sorts to the bottom and stays out of your way.

A keyword-alert tool sends you 50 Reddit mentions per day and lets you triage them. Reddscan sends you the same 50 — already sorted by intent, with reply-worthy threads at the top.

Best practices for website tracking

  • Track the topic, not just the brand. The brand-mention monitor is the easy one. The buying-intent monitors against your category keywords are where most of the actual leads live — those are the threads where the OP has not heard of you yet.
  • Add competitors as a separate monitor.Frustrated competitor users are the highest-converting Reddit lead segment. Reddscan's analyze step proposes competitors automatically; promote them into their own monitor so the matches do not get buried.
  • Re-analyze after a major site change. If you reposition the homepage, swap the value prop, or launch a new product line, paste the URL again. The AI re-reads and re-extracts so the monitors stay aligned with what your site actually says today.
  • Start broad, then prune. Let the first week run on the AI-proposed monitor as-is. After 7 days, look at which keywords produced buying-intent matches and which produced noise — drop the latter and the signal cleans up dramatically.
